Renowned shoe designer Ronnie Fieg brings a fresh perspective to two ASICS classics with his latest collaboration. ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 and GEL-NIMBUS 10.1 get major updates from Kith’s founder.
The redesigned GEL-KAYANO 12.1 showcases technical excellence through its innovative construction. Fieg masterfully combines the original KAYANO 12 upper with the NIMBUS 17 sole unit to create balanced proportions. Lightweight mesh dominates the upper, while TPU-constructed ASICS stripes strengthen the lateral profile. Japanese typography graces the tongues – ‘Kayano’ adorns the left shoe, while ‘Friend’ appears on the right, referencing Kith’s family-centric philosophy.
Moving on to the GEL-NIMBUS 10.1, Fieg demonstrates his understanding of progressive design. Originally developed alongside the KAYANO 14 in 2008, the silhouette maintains its status as a forward-thinking runner. Technical features abound, including dual-layer EVA foam, strategic placement of GEL® technology, and TRUSSTIC® system integration. These components provide superior cushioning and structural integrity.
