The Nike Ja 2 “Purple Sky” has landed, bringing a new level of performance and style to the basketball court. Designed in collaboration with NBA superstar Ja Morant, this second-generation signature shoe builds on the success of its predecessor while introducing innovative features tailored for dynamic playmakers.
At the heart of the Ja 2 is a focus on comfort and support, critical elements for withstanding the demands of a grueling basketball season. The shoe’s forefoot Air Zoom unit provides exceptional cushioning, allowing players to make quick changes with ease. A molded midfoot panel provides responsive control, perfect for fast breaks or one-on-one matchups.
Traction is key in basketball, and the Nike Ja 2 delivers with an outsole pattern inspired by the semi-trailer tires Morant used in his childhood training. This unique design allows for confident cuts on the court, while a sidewall guardrail provides stability for unexpected takeoffs.
Comfort hasn’t been overlooked either, with a waterfall-inspired collar lining and ankle padding to enhance the overall feel. The ballistic mesh upper enhances breathability to keep players cool during intense play.
Ja Morant’s personal touch is evident throughout the design of the shoe. The Purple Sky colorway, for example, captures the mesmerizing quality of his performance on the court. “It’s about comfort, more bounce and bringing my fans into different stories that they may not know,” Morant explains. “We tell those stories through the colorways of my shoe.“
