The Nike Air Max Sunder “Canyon Gold” is making a much-anticipated return this Fall. For those who value a blend of nostalgic design and modern sneaker technology, this release promises to deliver on both fronts.
Originally introduced in 1999, the Air Max Sunder quickly became a favorite among sneaker aficionados. Its distinct design and innovative features set it apart from other footwear on the market. This year, Nike has decided to bring back this iconic shoe in its original form, with some subtle enhancements that nod to advancements in sneaker technology.
The “Canyon Gold” colorway had been previewed during last year’s SNKRS Showcase, sparking a wave of nostalgia and anticipation. The new images provide a detailed look at this much-awaited release. The color scheme, staying true to its roots, combines deep golden hues with subtle accents, making it a standout piece in any sneaker collection.
Nike’s decision to revive the Air Max Sunder follows a successful collaboration with COMME des GARÇONS in 2021. That collaboration reintroduced the shoe to a new generation, albeit with a contemporary twist. However, the 2024 release promises a more faithful reproduction of the original design, retaining the beloved OG colorways and tooling.
Two colorways have been the center of attention: “Deep Ocean/Gold/Deep Yellow” (“Canyon Gold”) and “Black/Light Graphite/Grey.” Both are strikingly similar to how they appeared in late 90s Nike catalogs, a move that is sure to please purists. The meticulous attention to detail by Nike’s designers in Beaverton ensures that these shoes not only look like their predecessors but also potentially feature hidden enhancements that leverage modern sneaker technology.
While the exact release date remains under wraps, the MSRP is set at $180. These Nike Air Max Sunder “Canyon Gold” will be available on SNKRS and at select Nike retailers this Fall.
