Nike thrives on innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of design and technology in the footwear industry. But that doesn’t mean they shy away from revisiting successful colorways from the past. The upcoming slate is a testament to this, with the White Thunder Jordan 4 echoing a familiar design and the A Ma Maniere Jordan 3 drawing clear inspiration from the Black Cement Jordan 3. This approach extends even further back, as evidenced by the upcoming Nike Air Max 1, which borrows its palette from the soon-to-be-released Air Force 1 Escape.
While there’s no official confirmation of a direct “Escape” connection, the recent resurgence of the Air Force 1 Escape on the SNKRS app undeniably casts a shadow. In reality, this Air Max 1 leans closer to a reinterpretation of the beloved “Curry” colorway that captivated AM1 fans in both 2003 and 2018.
The most striking alteration lies in the Swoosh, which swaps its usual university gold for a sleek black. The overlays also see a shift, with suede taking over the collar and leather gracing the mudguard – a clear inversion from the original “Curry” design. Sneaker purists will undoubtedly spend hours dissecting the nuances of this new colorway, but there’s no denying its potential. This Air Max 1 emerges as a perfect Fall companion, seamlessly integrating into wardrobes well before the leaves begin to change. It embodies the classic AM1 appeal that’s secured its place as a footwear staple for decades.
Expect the Nike Air Max 1 “Escape” to land in stores within the coming weeks, joining Nike’s robust Fall/Holiday lineup. The retail price is anticipated to be around $140.
