The highly anticipated Louis Vuitton and Timberland collaboration has finally received an official release date.
On July 18th, the collection will pre-launch on the Louis Vuitton website and app, with a wider release scheduled for stores worldwide on August 8th. This eagerly awaited project was first unveiled in January by Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton’s menswear creative director, as part of his Western-themed fall collection.
The collection represents a unique marriage of high fashion and rugged practicality. It features Louis Vuitton’s interpretation of the iconic Timberland work boot, a symbol of durability and street style for decades. Crafted in the brand’s footwear workshop in Fiesso, Italy, the boot will be available in two core styles and several variations.
Each iteration boasts premium Italian nubuck leather, PrimaLoft insulation for warmth, and seam-sealed construction for weatherproofing. The signature rubber lug sole, synonymous with Timberland’s functionality, remains a key design element.
The LV 6-Inch, for instance, retains the classic silhouette of the traditional Timberland boot, but with a luxurious twist. The nubuck leather features an embossed Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern, available in both wheat and black colorways. Subtle touches of luxury include a Monogram-embossed tongue lining and leather tags.
For those seeking a bolder statement, the LV Boot offers a 15% taller silhouette compared to the classic 6-Inch. This impactful design comes in four styles: an ankle boot, a ranger boot, a pull-on mid boot, and a pull-on harness boot.
While the price point reflects the premium materials and craftsmanship, it’s significantly higher than a standard pair of Timberlands. Expect to pay between 2,200 and 2,600 euros for most styles.
For the ultimate collectors, a limited edition of 50 LV 6-Inch ankle boots crafted from Monogram Italian leather and boasting 18-karat gold hardware will be available. These ultra-luxurious boots come with a bespoke presentation box crafted from Monogram leather and plexiglass, with natural leather trims, for a price tag of 75,000 euros.
The Louis Vuitton and Timberland collaboration highlights the brand’s connection to the rap and hip-hop communities, a connection further solidified by the recent appointment of Pusha T as a brand ambassador. The Timberland work boot, frequently referenced in rap lyrics by icons like Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z, and Tupac Shakur, has long held a special place in street culture.
This isn’t Louis Vuitton’s first foray into major footwear collaborations. Under the direction of the late Virgil Abloh, the brand previously released its own iterations of Nike’s Air Force 1 trainers. Pharrell Williams himself boasts a history with Timberland, having designed styles for the brand through his streetwear label Billionaire Boys Club.
The Timberland collection is just one element of a broader workwear-inspired capsule collection by Louis Vuitton. The range also includes ready-to-wear apparel, bags, and accessories, all set for release on August 8th alongside the boots.
In a statement following his January show, Pharrell Williams explained the rationale behind the collaboration: “Workwear has always been important…because life can be rough and you want something that’s gonna wear and last. And Timberland, it just makes sense. It’s something that we love… If you’re going to spend your disposable income, it needs to be for something that’s actually really going to last.”
The capsule collection boasts a limited-edition Keepall 50 Toolbox bag, a utilitarian take on Louis Vuitton’s signature bag priced at 20,000 euros. Crafted from natural leather and lined in coated Monogram canvas, the bag features multiple pockets and rivets for enhanced functionality. Other accessories include an engraved steel flask and cigarette case.
For apparel, the collection offers overdyed jacquard suits in a muted color palette, alongside trucker jackets and roomy coats adorned with yokes and leather appliqué motifs reminiscent of classic Western wear. The collection represents a unique blend of high fashion and street style, with a touch of Pharrell Williams’ signature flamboyant flair evident in details like turquoise buttons, pearls, and embroidery.
