Legendary artist Futura, also known as Futura 2000, has once again teamed up with Nike SB to create a stunning new iteration of the classic Nike SB Dunk Low. This highly anticipated collaboration will be released in two distinct colorways, each showcasing Futura’s signature abstract style and unique design approach.
The first colorway features a crisp white canvas upper that provides the perfect backdrop for the multicolored overlays that adorn the shoe. Predominant blues dominate the design, creating a visually striking contrast to the white base. The midsole maintains a clean white appearance, while the outsole opts for a translucent blue for a subtle yet eye-catching detail. Futura’s influence is further emphasized by the presence of the FL heel counter branding, a nod to his iconic style.
In contrast, the second colorway features a bolder and more vibrant palette. Warm tones of red, yellow and pink take center stage, creating a loud and eye-catching design. The combination of these colors showcases Futura’s fearless approach to color and ability to create harmonious yet bold compositions.
Futura’s relationship with Nike SB spans over two decades, with some of the most sought-after collaborations in the sneaker world. The Futura x Nike SB Dunk High “For Love or Money” colorways, released in the early 2000s, remain highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike. This latest project further cements Futura’s status as a visionary artist and his lasting impact on sneaker culture.
Prior to this collaboration, Futura’s most recent project with Nike SB was the Off-White x Futura Laboratories x Nike SB Dunk Low collection. The proceeds from this collaboration went to the Virgil Abloh Foundation and showcased Futura’s commitment to supporting important causes through his art.
Sneaker enthusiasts and art lovers alike can look forward to the release of the Futura x Nike SB Dunk Low on May 18, 2024. The collaboration will be available through Futura’s official website, FuturaLabratories.com, and possibly select Nike SB stores and the SNKRS app.
