As the world eagerly awaits the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Nike is preparing to celebrate the global event by bringing back classic silhouettes and introducing new, exciting products. The « Safari » theme has been a prominent approach across Nike’s performance and lifestyle footwear, but the brand is also reissuing all-time icons to further energize the massive event. Among these iconic re-releases are the Nike Air More Uptempo Slide « Olympic », a fresh take on the classic basketball shoe worn by the legendary Scottie Pippen.
The Nike Air More Uptempo Slide « Olympic » pay homage to the iconic navy, white and red colorway of the original sneaker, which Pippen famously wore during the 1996 Olympic Games. The slip-on slide model features a USA blue base, while the oversized « AIR » letter patches are stitched in crisp white on the lateral and medial sides, seamlessly merging into the air-cushioned midsole. A subtle touch of red appears via the Nike swoosh on the in-step, adding a pop of contrast to the overall design.
While the Slide are a near-perfect transfer of the classic Uptempo look, it’s worth noting that Scottie’s number 8 jersey, which is prominently featured on the heel of the original basketball model, is missing from the Slides. Despite this minor omission, the Nike Air More Uptempo Slide « Olympic » remain a faithful representation of the iconic sneaker that captured the hearts of basketball fans and sneaker enthusiasts alike.
The Nike Air More Uptempo Slide « Olympic » will be available for the Summer/Fall 2024 season and will retail for $85. Sneaker aficionados and fans of the original Uptempo silhouette will be able to purchase these slides at Nike.com and select retailers.
