Y/Project, the renowned fashion label known for its innovative and avant-garde designs, has teamed up with SALOMON, the outdoor footwear and apparel brand, to create a unique and eye-catching sneaker: the Y/Project x SALOMON Speedcross 3.
The Speedcross 3, originally released in March 2024, is a popular trail running shoe known for its rugged construction and aggressive outsole. In the hands of Y/Project’s creative director, Glenn Martens, the Speedcross 3 undergoes a transformation, becoming a fashion-forward statement piece.
The most striking feature of the Y/Project x SALOMON Speedcross 3 is its upper, which is made from a satiny, bunched-up material. This fabric, reminiscent of Y/Project’s signature twisted and turned garments, adds a touch of elegance to the otherwise rugged sneaker. The upper also features a unique opening at the top, revealing a second layer and the co-branded tongue.
Despite the bold design changes, the Y/Project x SALOMON Speedcross 3 retains the Speedcross 3’s signature features, including the quicklace system and chunky sole. The sneaker also features prominent SALOMON logos, complemented by Y/Project branding.
The Y/Project x SALOMON Speedcross 3 comes in two classic colorways: black and white. Both colorways are expected to be released in August 2024.
The collaboration between Y/Project and SALOMON is a testament to the growing trend of fashion brands embracing outdoor and athletic influences. The Y/Project x SALOMON Speedcross 3 is a perfect example of this trend, combining the functionality of a trail running shoe with the style and innovation of a high-fashion label.
