The iconic PUMA Suede has been a canvas for collaboration and creativity for decades. In its latest partnership with Lower East Side creative hub LAAMS, the PUMA Suede takes on a whole new meaning as a literal blank canvas for artistic expression.
This unique PUMA Suede LAAMS “Blank Canvas” edition features a double-layered upper with a removable canvas outer layer. Peel it back to reveal a fuzzy green suede underneath, giving sneakerheads and creatives the freedom to customize their kicks however they see fit. LAAMS encourages wearers to “wear them into the ground” and create a one-of-a-kind personalized pair through the journey.
Fuzzy laces, silver lace jewels with “PUMA” and “LAAMS” branding, and a map of Manhattan’s Lower East Side printed on the outsole round out the distinct design. The shoes come with a matching tote bag and a watercolor paper box that doubles as its own blank canvas. Artwork created on the box can be submitted for potential inclusion in a commemorative zine and in-store display at LAAMS.
For the August 3rd launch, LAAMS will transform their workshop into a customization studio. Creatives and makers will be on hand to help customers who purchase the Suede LAAMS collab to personalize their pairs with watercolor, distressing, airbrushing, stamping, sashiko stitching and more. A roster of talented artists including Loso, Taira Rice, HOMESICK, BX Lyfe, Tooly, OM! and Rossana Romero will be offering their skills.
The PUMA Suede LAAMS “Blank Canvas” drops August 3, 2024 at LAAMS and select PUMA retailers globally. With this collab, PUMA and LAAMS have taken the Suede to the next level, empowering creative individuals to treat the iconic silhouette as their canvas.
