Twenty-five years after its limited release, a sneaker legend returns. Nike and the Wu-Tang Clan reunite to officially drop one of the most coveted sneaker collaborations of all time: the Nike x Wu-Tang Clan Dunk.
The iconic Black and Pollen colorway of the modern Dunk High mirrors the original, featuring the legendary “Killa Beez” colorblocking, premium leather, and the Wu-Tang Clan’s signature “W” logo embroidered on the tongue label and outer heel.
“These Dunks are important to me and the Wu-Tang legacy because of the cultural impact they’ve had,” said Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA. “For many years, the sneaker world was reserved for athletes and entertainers, and Nike recognizing us is a testament to hip-hop and our contribution to the culture.”
Born on the streets of Staten Island, New York, the Wu-Tang Clan emerged as a cultural phenomenon in the early 1990s. Their unique blend of gritty lyricism and kung fu references created a powerful sonic tapestry that transcended music, influencing fashion, film and art.
In 2018, Method Man called on Nike to bring back the sneakers. Six years later, Nike delivers with the first-ever widespread release of the “Wu-Tang” Dunk High.
The Nike Dunk, a basketball shoe turned streetwear icon, was the perfect canvas for this collaboration. The Nike x Wu-Tang Clan Dunk honors the history of the groundbreaking hip-hop group and streetwear silhouette, adding a new chapter to their lore.
“The shoe already has a legacy, and now thousands of people will have a chance to own a pair,” says RZA. “These sneakers are a trophy.”
After a surprise limited release in September, the Nike Dunk High “Wu-Tang” will officially be released on November 9th for $150. The “Black/Pollen/White” sneaker features an all-leather upper, Wu-Tang’s “W” logo and a colorway reminiscent of the classic “Iowa” Dunk High.
