Nike redefines road running comfort with the introduction of the Nike Vomero 18. Informed by female runners and designed for all athletes, the Nike Vomero 18 provides a plush experience for those looking to extend their distance and accelerate their pace.
At the heart of the Vomero 18 is an innovative combination of full-length ZoomX foam and strategically placed ReactX foam in the heel and forefoot. This dual-stacked cushioning system provides an exceptionally soft ride that minimizes the impact felt with every stride. With a 46mm stack height-the highest ever in the Vomero line and 6mm higher than its predecessor-the shoe marks a significant advancement in Nike’s quest for maximum cushioning.
“We heard from runners that when they think of maximum cushioning, they envision a soft, plush experience that takes the sting out of the ground. We obsessed over the details to deliver that feeling to the running community with best-in-class design and technology,” said Ashley Campbell, Nike Running Footwear Product Line Manager. “That ethos is evident throughout the Vomero 18, a shoe designed to provide every runner, from the everyday to the elite, with an ultra-comfortable ride that is both supportive and body-conscious, equipping runners to achieve their goals.“
The Vomero 18 is designed for a wide range of runners. Whether you’re lacing up for the first time, increasing your mileage or focusing on recovery after a race, the shoe’s design provides unparalleled comfort. The durable rubber outsole enhances traction for high-mileage runs, while the upward curve incorporates increased rocker geometry for a smoother heel-to-toe transition.
Breathability and comfort are further enhanced with a soft, stretchy engineered mesh upper that improves airflow around the toe and tongue. This design not only contributes to the lightweight feel, but also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the shoe.
Visually, the Nike Vomero 18 features bold design elements that stand out both on the run and in everyday situations. The pronounced heel lift emphasizes movement and highlights where runners experience maximum cushioning. A vibrant colorway mix allows athletes to express their individuality, with the lead option “Atmosphere Pink” symbolizing the exhilaration of a long run.
Extending its commitment to all runners, Nike introduces the Vomero 18 to its kids’ lineup. This marks the first time ReactX foam has been available to younger athletes, coupled with the highest stack height of any Nike running shoe for kids.
The launch of the Vomero 18 is part of Nike’s streamlined road running footwear lineup that focuses on the essential need for cushioning. This simplified lineup consists of three key franchises: Vomero for maximum cushioning, Pegasus for responsive cushioning, and Structure for supportive cushioning.
“We heard from runners that they desire a more intuitive experience in selecting their running footwear. So we’ve simplified our Road Running Footwear Lineup to obsessively focus on the timeless need for cushioning,” said Marian Dougherty, senior director of global running footwear. “Based on icon franchises, the new lineup helps guide runners to the right ride for them—whether it’s highly responsive, maximum cushioning, or a supportive ride.”
This approach is designed to make the selection process easier and provide a welcoming experience for new runners and those looking to expand their shoe rotation. Positioned as ideal for beginners and recovery runs, the Vomero complements the Pegasus line, which caters to athletes focused on speed and responsiveness.
In addition to footwear, Nike introduced new running apparel lines Swift and Stride. Swift blends functionality with lifestyle appeal, while Stride is designed specifically for performance.
The Nike Vomero 18 will be available worldwide on February 27 via the Nike website and select retailers.
