The Nike Jam, the first shoe designed specifically for breakdancing, is set to rock the footwear world when it launches globally on July 16. This innovative new model from Nike celebrates the uncompromising style and artistry of the breakers who have long made moves in Nike sneakers.
Developed over six years with extensive testing at the Nike Sport Research Lab and insights from breakers themselves, the Jam is engineered to maximize performance on any surface, from competition floors to concrete and asphalt. The shoe features a foam drop-in midsole for ample cushioning, a rubber cupsole for a close-to-the-ground feel, and materials optimized for sliding and durability.
“The Jam is the type of shoe I’d wear any time to break — whether practicing, cyphering or chillin’ — because of its traction and durability,” says Nike athlete Logan “Logistx” Edra. Unique details like the upside-down Swoosh pay homage to the craft of breaking, with reflective elements and mixed materials elevating the style.
Launching alongside the Jam is a collection of Nike Sportswear apparel tailored for enhanced protection and mobility. Federation kits for the United States, Korea and Japan feature a cohesive design to unite athletes on the global stage. Futura, the renowned artist and longtime Nike collaborator, brings his distinctive style to the collection with reimagined artwork and fresh designs.
“Building on my history of collaborating with Nike, I’m very honored and grateful to be chosen to participate in this collection,” says Futura. “We’re pushing the boundary of what’s possible from a manufacturing and design point of view.” The Jam will be available in three colorways – a black and gum nodding to DJ equipment, a tan and black inspired by cardboard dance floors, and a Futura-designed white and black.
The Nike Jam and the breaking apparel collection launched globally on July 16th at nike.com and select retailers. The federation kits for the USA, Korea, and Japan will be available globally on August 1st. The limited-edition Nike Jam Futura colorway is slated for a Fall 2024 release.
