This summer, Nike is set to transform a Parisian landmark into a monument to athletic achievement with a bold collaboration alongside the iconic Centre Pompidou.
The aptly named “Art of Victory” exhibition kicks off on July 24th, taking residence within the very walls that inspired a revolution in footwear design nearly four decades ago. It’s a fitting tribute, considering the Centre Pompidou’s radical, inside-out architecture served as the muse for Tinker Hatfield’s visionary integration of visible Air technology in the Air Max 1.
Nike will drape the Centre Pompidou’s instantly recognizable facade in a vibrant tapestry showcasing groundbreaking moments in sports history. A series of interactive experiences will unfold across the same outdoor space that housed Nike’s electrifying 30th-anniversary celebration for the Air Max 1 back in 2017.
Outside, a brand new, publicly accessible, and skateable sculpture titled “Cycloid Piazza” (2024) awaits. Designed by French artist Raphael Zarka in collaboration with architect Jean-Benoît Vétillard, with the support of Nike, this innovative installation promises a fresh way for visitors to engage with art.
Daily programming throughout the event caters to a wide range of athletic passions. Expect events dedicated to running, basketball, football (soccer for our American readers!), skateboarding, and even breakdancing.
The “Art of Victory” exhibition runs from July 24th to August 11th, nestled within the heart of Paris at the Centre Pompidou. Registration details for the exhibition and information on the outdoor programming extravaganza can be found at Paris.nike.com. Additionally, those under 26 years old will be granted free access to the Centre Pompidou’s permanent collection and exhibitions during this period.
