Originally teased as a collaboration with UK retailer Size?, the Nike Air Max Dn “Canyon Rust” has emerged as a mainline reimagining of the popular silhouette. This striking colorway, a notable departure from the shoe’s tech-forward debut in March, offers a fresh, vintage-inspired aesthetic.
The “Canyon Rust” iteration features several updates from the original Air Max Dn. The mudguard transitions from a graphic treatment to a smooth leather construction, while the woven section of the upper gets a plush makeover with subtle dotted stitching. The shoe’s signature four Air Chambers, typically rendered in metallic tones, are given a matte finish, adding to the shoe’s understated appeal. Two new pull tabs strategically placed on the tongue and heel add to the distinctive look.
The colorway itself is a study in harmonious contrast. The upper of the shoe is dominated by its namesake “Canyon Rust”, a rich burgundy hue, while a soft pink tone graces the lower half, creating a visually appealing separation.
Confusion arose earlier this year when Size? previewed a cream and mauve Air Max Dn, leading many to believe that the Canyon Rust colorway would remain exclusive to the retailer. However, Nike has confirmed that the “Canyon Rust” will see a wider release, much to the delight of sneaker enthusiasts.
The Air Max DN “Canyon Rust” will hit SNKRS and retail on September 3rd for $180.
