The worlds of sneakers and video games collided this weekend as Nike and Bandai Namco Entertainment pulled back the curtain on their highly anticipated Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One collaboration. Attendees at the Evo 2024 fighting game tournament in Las Vegas were treated to an exclusive first look at the limited edition kicks.
After leaked images of the Kazuya Mishima-inspired “Fist” Nike Air Foamposite One surfaced online earlier this month, sneakerheads and gamers alike have been clamoring for more details. Nike did not disappoint, officially unveiling the “Kazuya” colorway (style code FQ9050-400) alongside a first glimpse of the “Jin Kazama” Nike Air Foamposite One (style code HF6367-001) inspired by Tekken‘s main protagonist.
The Nike Air Foamposite One “Kazuya” features a fiery red and black colorway with intricate detailing nodding to the character’s devilish alter ego. Meanwhile, the “Jin” pair sports a crisp white, black and red color scheme. Both are emblazoned with Tekken 8 logos and will retail for $250 each.
Lucky Evo attendees also had a chance to cop the “Kazuya” colorway via a geo-locked SNKRS Stash drop on Saturday. With resale prices already approaching $1,000, these limited edition sneakers are shaping up to be one of the year’s most coveted drops.
Nike and Bandai Namco confirmed that the Nike Air Foamposite One x Tekken 8 will also be making a virtual appearance in the upcoming Tekken 8 video game. Players will be able to outfit their favorite fighters in the stylish sneaks as they battle it out in the virtual arena.
2024 is shaping up to be a monster year for the Nike Air Foamposite One silhouette. In addition to the Tekken collab, the iconic “Royal” colorway is set to return this fall, while the avant-garde Comme des Garçons Homme Plus “Cat Eye” x Nike Air Foamposite dropped just last week. With all this heat, expect Foamposite fever to keep climbing.
The Nike Air Foamposite One x Tekken 8 pack is slated to release this autumn at select Nike retailers and on the SNKRS app. Stay tuned for an official drop date and expect competition to be fierce for these limited edition grails.
