The Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV Cherry Blossom” is set to reignite the age-old debate of which region truly put the Foamposite on the map. This upcoming edition pays homage to the greater Baltimore area known as the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) with a bold colorway and region-specific details.
Taking inspiration from the iconic Nike Air Foamposite One “Rose Gold” released in 2018, the “DMV Cherry Blossom” features a similar rosy metallic hue that effortlessly catches the eye. The translucent icy sole underfoot adds a touch of cool contrast, perfectly complementing the warm tones of the upper.
What sets this edition apart is the overt reference to the DMV region on the pull tab. The proud lettering serves as a badge of honor for those who claim the DMV as the true birthplace of Foamposite culture. While the first mockups have surfaced, it’s important to remember that the final product may differ slightly from these early renderings.
This release marks a significant milestone in Nike’s ongoing love affair with the DMV. Last year, the Foamposite “Dream A World” made its debut in the region with the first 850 pairs released exclusively through Whitaker Group channels. However, the “DMV Cherry Blossom” takes that commitment to new heights, offering a more focused and intentional celebration of the area.
Official images of the Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV Cherry Blossom” show the soft pink upper in all its glory, with the “DMV” branding prominently displayed on the rear heel tabs. The sockliner features a special cherry blossom design, paying tribute to the iconic flowers that bloom throughout the region.
Sneakerheads can expect the Nike Air Foamposite One “DMV Cherry Blossom” to hit shelves in the summer of 2024 with a retail price of $240. While it remains uncertain whether the release will be exclusive to DMV retailers or see a wider release at SNKRS and select retailers.
