The Adizero Ubersonic 5 is designed for today’s fast-paced tennis game. It features several groundbreaking features that cater to the needs of today’s fast-paced tennis. At the heart of this new design is the Speedframe technology, which is making its debut in an adidas tennis shoe. Speedframe was originally developed for football and rugby boots, and it provides crucial support for the heel and mid-foot, enabling players to make swift directional changes with confidence.
The shoe’s Lightstrike midsole, which comes from adidas’s record-breaking running line, offers the perfect balance of lightweight cushioning and on-court responsiveness. The brand’s made some changes to the midsole based on feedback from athletes. The new design gives you a lower, more connected feel on the court.
The design also prioritizes comfort and breathability, which are essential for speed. The Adizero Ubersonic 5 has a minimalist mesh upper in a half-bootie construction, so it’s lightweight and airy while still keeping you snug.
Ben Herath, adidas‘ VP of Design, gave us the lowdown on how the shoe was developed: “With this model, we wanted to make a pared-back tennis shoe to really enhance athlete movement on court. Through collaboration with our players, we incorporated their feedback to carefully evolve features from previous models and introduced technology from other sports, never seen before in our tennis shoes. The result is an elite-level shoe fine-tuned for speed.”
The Adizero Ubersonic 5 is set to make its big debut at the first major tournament of the 2025 season, and it’ll be on the feet of top-tier players aiming for glory. The shoe’s eye-catching Lucid Red color and bold three-stripe design are sure to turn heads on and off the court.
